Honoree Profile

Karl A. Anderson attended Titchfield High School from September 1965-June 1971. Coming from a sporting family, Karl could not pass Carder Park without stopping, on his way home from the Port Antonio Primary School. At Carder Park, Karl watched some of Portland’s best, including some of his brothers, display their skills.  It is no wonder therefore, that Karl played almost all forms of sports when he got to high school. This included, football, cricket, track & field athletics and even fencing which was offered then, while he was at Titchfield. After spending a year at Wolmers’ Boys School in 1972-3, he went on to UWI Mona from 1973-77.

While studying at UWI Mona, Karl continued to play football for his Portland club team Avengers, in the National Premier League, and also for Portland. After graduation in 1977, he returned to his Alma –Mata, where he taught, Economics, and Sociology in the upper school, plus Geography and Principles of Business in the Lower school, from 1977-85. Never to forget his sports, Karl assisted with coaching the school teams, in football, cricket, and track & field, while continuing to play for the staff teams and for his local club and parish teams. Through his love for photography, Karl recorded many great sporting moments of Titchfield and Portland. The following are a few of Karl’s major achievements.
